I'm doing it!

Day two while back at college, and I'm so far going good!

Starting tomorrow I'm going to try and keep a log of what I'm eating for my meals, and hopefully in a week or two after I've been going 'semi' strong, I'll start experimenting with E's.

So far today:

Breakfast
Omelet with red and green peppers, olives, and cottage cheese (I think it's 4% fat Cottage Cheese)
Medium sized (about?) cup of coffee with some half and half

Lunch
Large salad with olives, cheese, green bell pepper, hard boiled egg, balsamic vinegar, and cottage cheese
One hot-dog with a bit of melted cheese (to make it palatable)
Some Brussels sprouts with a bit of cheese (they were a bit under cooked, oh well)

Tonight will be more of a cross-over instead of an S (breaded meat. . . again. . .), so I'll probably have some kind of salad or neutral vegetable.
I can't complain though, I'm doing pretty well for dealing with college cafeteria food!

Oh, something that's keeping me going is keeping a small dark chocolate bar (plan approved) in my coat pocket.
If I'm really craving dessert, I just remember that it's there and I'll either eat it on the way back to wherever I'm going to I'll go and fetch it.

God Bless!

I'm Back, and I'm Setting Me Some Goals. . .

I'm back at college. . .

And I'm determined to do better than last semester.

My goal to reach my pre-first semester weight was accomplished, on a day that I had a bad cold too!
My new goal is to either maintain this weight, or lose some more.
The clencher:
I won't know if I did or not until March.

Yup.
That's two months away.

New yay:
I found two pairs of 14's that fit me nicely!
I also have some 12's given to me by my mom, but they're in storage right now.
Maybe by the time it starts to warm up!

God Bless!

Looking Back on This Last Year

Wow.

What a year.

I'd started THM in April/May of last year, and lost 20 lb.
Yup.
After years of halfheartedly trying to lose weight.

I don't have my exact weight from last year, but I was about 200 lb.
I weighed in on January first as 181 lb!

I've learned a lot more than just how to lose weight in this last year:

I was able to get a job as one of the cashiers for my college dining hall, and I've learned how to use a cash register!
(I had no idea they could be so finicky!)
I found crazy friends, and not so crazy friends.
I found out that reading large portions of the Bible only takes a two, three, four hours!
I found out that procrastinating on essays doesn't work (at least for over half of the time!).
I've found out that being away from my family is okay, there's always break!
I've found out that sleep is one of the most needed things while at college, and one of the most costly to lose.
I've found out that it's okay to not be on the computer very often, I can still get a lot done!
I've found out that writing a first draft is the hardest thing to write.
I've found out working on the second draft is a hilarious breath of fresh air.
I've found out that God is still good, no matter the problems I face.

Wow, the list could go on!
God is good!

My goal for this next year is to lose 20-30 lbs by next January, and hopefully start exercising more.
Well, at least the courage to exercise in my room!
I, for one, do not like it when there are people there to watch my pitiful attempts at sit-ups, push-ups, and other exercises.

I also found out in the month of January that I have to be careful with how I make the Singing Canary.
I added about a 1/4 tsp. Tumeric, and a LOT of vanilla.
Too much vanilla.
I drank almost all of it, but ended up just dumping the last little bit (about two or so tall glasses worth if I'd added the extra water).

Well, I hope to post later this week on the THM building blocks!
See you then!

God Bless,

I'm back!

Quick Update:
Fall of Freshman Year Gained:
8 lb.
Lost over Christmas break:
8 lb.

So!
I've so far kept away the 'Freshman 15' so far, and I hope to keep it as far away as possible!
I have one more week until I'm back to classes, my next goal is to be back at my lowest weight that I'd been before I started preparing for college!
(I'd gained two pounds before I left for college, so you could say that I'd gained 10 lb. . .)

Another Bonus:
I'm 95% of the way into size 14's!
My mom (who I've been swapping close with for the last few years) has lost 35 lb. and is now down to a 12-10.
That's both good and bad for me.
:)
She's given me some of her old pants, but they're 14 petite!
Plus my excess weight is carried around my belly, so even though I'm smaller boned (and short), I cannot fit (no matter how much I wish I could) into a size 14 petite.
Another goal to aim at!

Something to Think About:
While I was at college, I was walking every where.
Even though my weight was going upward, my pants were telling another tale.
From what I can decipher, I gained muscle and lost some of the fat around my legs.
That's what makes sense at least.

Deliciousness:
This last week I tried making Skinny Chocolate with coconut flakes in it!
It was DELICIOUS!
It was like eating Almond Mounds, only healthier!
I also added to the original recipe one large scoop of Protein Powder, which to me didn't seem to change it that much.
I learned that putting two big spoonfuls into the cupcake liners was too big a bite, so next time I'll only do one.
Next time, I want to try making them with almonds for a try for Almond Joy's!

Total Weight Lost so far:
20 lb.

God Bless!

Gah.

Simply put, I'm not going to be continuing this until Spring Semester (Second half of January on. . .).
I'm sorry.

I was not prepared this semester, and I hope to be able to do more (and have more experience doing THM here) by Spring Semester.

Either way, here's a recipe I found on the THM Facebook group and hope to make some time.
:)

You just mix it all together with enough water for 2 quarts!

See you in January!

God Bless,

Quick Update

A really quick update before I go to bed. . .
My nice, comfy bed, with the nice, soft pillows. . .
Oh.
Yeah.
The update.

So far, so good.
All of my meals are S's so far (meals with fats and protein), though I think I might have had a few cross-overs (low carb and fat) a couple of times (those sneaky carbs. . .).
My parents left me lovely Protein Peanut Butter Cups (will post link to recipe soon. It's wonderful!), which happily melted in my room (that's what happens when your dorm doesn't have air conditioning and you start talking to faculty/RA/ARA/etc. who are introducing themselves to the students. . .).
Now I have delicious gobs of peanutty chocolate goodness!

My campus is rather rural, so I'm thinking  that most of my daily exercise will end up being walking from building to building.
If I can find the time between things, I might try a ten minute exercise routine.
I'll have to see if I can work that in, as I'm also looking for a job. . .

I have a very hectic schedule for this semester, but I'm happily looking forward too it!
I don't do very good with too much time on my hands.

Well, good night and God Bless!

Trim and Healthy, What is That?

I'm not sure if you have heard of the Amazon bestselling book, Trim Healthy Mama.
If you haven't read it yet, go look it up.
I'm so glad my mom bought it, even with its rather hefty price.
Believe me, it's well worth $35 (keep in mind, that that huge book [617 pages to be exact] is mostly cookbook).
It's packed full of information that will change the way you look at everything.

Here's a little about me before I started this life style:
I was nineteen years old, almost a hundred pounds over weight (I refused to weigh myself because of how large the number was getting),
in horrible joint pain for most of the week,
in love with all sorts of active stuff but unwilling to join in because of said pain,
and hiding behind all sorts of walls that I'd built up because I was afraid that they'd notice me (and my weight), even though I wanted to be noticed.

Here's a little about me now that I've been on this life style for about four months:
I'm twenty years old,
I've lost about twenty pounds now without adding exercise to my daily routine (it's on the horizon though),
my joint pain has lessened to the point that I can garden and do things that I love again,
and my walls are starting to come down (sometimes I actually like how I look).

What if you can't spare the money to try this?
What if you are on a budget, but still want to try this?
If you are willing to try this life style without the book, then I'd love to try and help you.
I'll be posting soon four different parts of what this life style is built upon.

I'll see you then!
